About to buy a Golf 1.6 TDI BlueMotion - will it be affected

I am in the middle of getting a Golf BlueMotion 1.6 TDI from a dealership. My concern as many is should I go ahead with it. Do we know yet if this particular make and model is one of the many millions. Does this car have the EA 189 engine. According to the specs it is EU5 compliant but does that in fact mean anything any more.

Yes, if it is a Golf Mk VI it has the old EA 189 1.6 TDI engine and is likely to be recalled. The Golf VII from 2013 has the new EA 288 1.6 TDI and 2.0 TDI that uses a double loop EGR to avoid the problem that the EA 189 is saddled with.
