Peugeot EGC transmission

I have a Peugeot Bipper Tepee 1.3 diesel with EGC auto box. Why does the user manual say never to leave the car in neutral? And advises you can start the car in 1st or reverse gears?

Because it wears out the clutch. This is an automated manual, not an auto.
