Particulate Filters Diesel engines

I have recently had to pay to have a EGR valve replaced on my Peugeot 407 diesel. As I am thinking of replacing the vehicle, but note many diesel engines suffer from regeneration failures, are there any current 1.9 / 2.0 ltr diesel engined vehicles that do not appear to suffer from this problem, or is it better to return to petrol engine vehicles. Looking for something like a Suzuki Vitara, Mitsu ASX.

They all have to have EGRs and DPFs to prevent harmful emissions leaking into the atmosphere. Some work better than others. In general, diesel engines where the exhaust manifold is incorporated into the cylinder head work best. These include Mazda Skyactiv 1.5 and 2.2 diesels, Renault/Nissan /Mercedes 1.6DCIs, VAG EA888 1.6 and 2.0 diesels from 2013. Honda 1.6iDTECS, Hyundai/KIA 1.6CRDIs and BMW N47 2.0 diesels are not manifold in head but seem to be relatively free of these problems, though N47s have had a timing chain issue.
