Car could be written off - what do I do?

I had a suspicious crash for cash front end collision to the back end of another car on the entrance into a roundabout. I'm worried that the insurance company may write off the car. It is a Volkswagen Golf 1.6 TDI with 54,000 miles on the clock. The air bags weren't deployed but there is damage to both front wings, bonnet head lamps and radiator. If the car is written off I don't get access to a courtesy car, my questions are:
1. If I can't get hold of a courtesy car what's the best option for 12 week hire as I definitely don't to 'rush' into getting a new car
2. Is a new petrol Golf a good idea based on driving 11,000 miles per year.
3. Is there anything thing you recommend to deal with these staged crash eg driving style and/or dash cams?

1. Makes no sense. 12 weeks hire will cost you around £1500 and I've never heard of leases as short as 12 weeks. Better to go straight to someone who has the cars in stock, like Motorpoint, and drive away, no waiting. They currently have 2014 Skoda Rapid Spaceback 1.2 TSI 105 SE from £8,499 and that makes huge sense. 2. Yes. Avoids DPF and EGR problems. 3. Comfortable and quiet on the move, enjoyable to drive. Nicely trimmed with great attention to detail. 1.4 TSI sweeter to drive than a diesel.
