I'd be grateful if you are able to de-mystify some queries I have with wheels and tyres. My car is a P-reg Peugeot 405 estate 1.9td 1996. Its current tyres are 185.65.14 R and I need to replace these. Also, I am considering buying a set of alloys with tyres fitted. My current wheels are steel and they do not have any size or informations on them. How do I find the original wheel size and recommended tyre size from Peugeot? My Haynes manual does not give this information and I don't have a drivers handbook. Have tried web searching and cannot find.

Also, is it ok to change the tyre size up or down on these same wheels (providing, of course, all four are changed)? And is there any information or a database that Peugeot provides for all its models giving original wheel and tyre size per model, as well as acceptable alternative replacement sizes?
