New Mazda CX-3
I am wanting to but a new Mazda CX-3 and would like the AWD version but as is common with many makers now it only comes as top spec sport nav (many extras I neither need nor want). I need a car that can get me to work on Dartmoor in all weathers but is also fun to drive. I wonder if it would be better to go for the 2wd model with winter tyres which would be a cheaper option ? Also, how much more ground clearance is there on the CX-3 over an average car - I ask as I am aware it is less than the CX-5 which I also looked at but ruled out as it is too big for my needs.

For this purpose you'd probably be better off with a new model Suzuki Vitara 1.6 diesel AWD. Doesn't have the looks, but drives and rides very well: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/suzuki/suzuki-vita.../
