Replacement for Mercedes A-Class?
My wife's much loved Mercedes A170 is now nine years old and is starting to develop electrical problems so she is reluctantly ready to change. It is her second A-Class and she liked the seating position. She is thinking of a Volkswagen Polo or a Honda Jazz. What do you think? Are there any alternatives? If she chooses a Jazz should she get a run out version at a good price or wait for the new one?

Honda Jazz. I'm currently running a 103,000 kilometre second generation Jazz 1.5 5-speed auto and it's excellent. Also a lot better looking than the lumpy new one. So, for aesthetic and financial reasons I'd go for a big discount on the runout Mk II Jazz, though you won't be able to buy a 1.5 5-speed auto in the UK, only a 1.4 (1.3) CVT-7.

Neatly styled. Increased room and better performance than original Jazz. better to drive. Very versatile. CVT-7 returned in February 2011 replacing i-SHIFT. More reliable than first generation Jazz.
Unrivalled practicality and versatility. Plenty of room for four adults to travel in comfort. Surprisingly fun to drive, especially 1.5 i-VTEC Sport.
