Should I sell or keep my 5 year old Golf?

I have a 2010 Volkswagen Golf 1.6 TDI. I have just completed 88,000 miles of trouble free motoring from new. I have had recently changed the cam belt and have had it main dealer serviced throughout its life. I travel 15,000 miles per year on mainly motorways and A roads. Shall I change the car or keep it?

VW's TDIs were hugely improved from 2013 (for the Mk VII Golf) when they went manifold in head and were designated EA889. www.drivethedeal.com is currently obtaining significant discounts on new Golfs. The problem with diesels is that the big expenses come during years 3 - 6 when things like DMFs, DPFs, EGRs, timing belts and turbos may all need replacing at a total cost of around £5,000, which you will never get back. That's more than the depreciation on a well bought new car.
