Buying a used car for £2k - is the Yaris diesel a wise buy?

I have been looking for a used Toyota Yaris diesel with a budget of £2000. I have been on the lookout for sometime with very few coming on the market at the price I want. I've seen a couple, with five or more owners, are these good value?

Though Yaris are generally the best small cars 10-15 years old, it's nuts to obsess about cars of that age that are essentially bangers. Once you're down in that price bracket, condition and what's been done to the car are paramount.

So don't go looking for a specific 10 - 15 year old car. Keep an open mind and look around until you find something that's in very good shape or has been very well maintained, has no rust and has a decent parts availability and you buy that.

The last cars of elderly people who have given up driving can be the best things you can buy. For Yaris problem areas see: www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/toyota/yaris-1999/?s...d Yaris 1.0s and 1.3s are averagely in better condition and much lower mileage than 1.4D4Ds.
