Do you have any info on the Fabia 1.9SDI?

I'm looking to buy a cheap used Skoda Fabia which I intend to run for around one year. I recently found a 2001 Fabia Comfort Estate with the 1.9SDi engine which I nearly bought, but hesitation cost me and it was sold.

I can't find this model listed in your car-by-car guide. What can you tell me about the 1.9 SDi estates, and what do I need to know when buying a used example? The model I looked at had a towbar; Is there anything extra I should check on towbar-fitted cars?

It's a low power, non turbo version of the VAG 1.9 diesel engine. Slow. If it's been towing then that implies extra work for the clutch, gearbox, diff and driveshafts. The 1.4 petrol Fabia had an old tech alloy block pushrod Skoda engine. When you're looking for a car for £1000 you can't be too picky about make and model. You just have to buy the first one you find that is in really good condition.
