Can I challenge a parking ticket if I've already paid it?

I received a parking ticket recently and paid within seven days so as not to incur a higher fine. I want to challenge the ticket, but have now been told that I cannot do so as I've already paid it. What can I do?

See: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/private-parking-penalties/ But if this was a council carpark you will need to go to the Traffic Penalty Tribunal.
