My licence was revoked without my knowledge - how do I get it back?
Believe it or not, I was stopped for driving too well. The police pulled me over as I was driving at 29 mph and they suspected I could be under the influence of alcohol (which I was not). But they did run a vehicle and license check. All was ok, except to my horror I was told my license had been revoked in December 2006, meaning I have been driving all this time without a license. They can only suggest that I have been caught speeding and was asked to hand in my license, and this is now ringing some bells.
I do vaguely remember being caught speeding but not asked for my license. They have seized my car, which my husband can collect tomorrow, and they have also told me I must appear in court, which I am horrified at. I have never ever been in trouble of any kind. Please will you tell me if it is a simple case of re-applying to the DVLA for my license (and do I need to re-sit any test to get my license back?). And secondly, what will happen in court ?

It's always your responsibility to make sure your licence is valid whenever driving. Here's details of how to repply for your licence if it's been revoked: www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/DriverLicensing/Medi...0
Every court is different so it's worth phoning them to find out what exactly will happen, but it's usually an informal sitting that only takes a few minutes.
