Which is best for a family, estate or MPV?

My wife and I have a large dog and are expecting a baby in March. I currently have a Mazda 6 Estate (2004) but am looking to sell for a newer and bigger option. Whilst I would love another estate and am keen to upgrade to a Mercedes-Benz E-Class or Volvo V70.

However, my wife hates the 'low' driving position of the Mazda and thinks we should buy an MPV due to its space, ease of access, seat height and the fact that she would find it easier to drive (shorter bonnet).

Whilst she may be right about some aspects, I'm not sure an MPV actually has as much boot space as an estate when the rear two seats are down. What type of car would you recommend for our situation?

Ford S-Max. It's a seven-seater sportscar and the best compromise. Crucial not to have to bend your backs too much lifting babies and toddlers in and out or you will get disc involvement and regret it for the rest of your life.
