Used car has broken down after 2 months - what should I do?

I recently purchased a 2007 Isuzu Rodeo for £7200 a few months ago. Today, the engine started making a strange noise and the car then refused to start. My local mechanic thinks it’s something to do with the oil pressure and hydraulicking, but the dealer doesn’t want to help. What should I do? I’ve only done 900 miles in the car and I feel ripped off.

If the engine has 'hydraulicked' that means water has got into the combustion chambers and since water cannot be compressed it has probably bent the conrods. The dealer is responsible for any fault that could have been present or developing on the date of sale, but not for something induced by duff fuel that you may have put in it or by driving through deep water.
