Is the 140PD engine in the 2007 Skoda Octavia prone to turbo and oil pump failure?
I am looking at buying a 2007 (07) Skoda Octavia with the 140PD engine in it. However I have found a few bad reports on the engine, some in relation to turbo failure at an early age and others about a problem with the oil pump. I was wondering if you had any knowledge on whether the 140 TD engine is a problem child to be avoided at all costs?

Someone else denied that the oil pump on 2.0 TDI PDs fitted to the Octavia had the oil pump problem. Maybe the guy who was trying to sell you his Octavia. See car-by-car breakdown that accurately reflects the problems reported to me before you decide on any VAG car.
