Is there a fault with my Ford Fiesta's starter motor?

I am having trouble with my diesel Ford Fiesta 1.7 TD's starter motor. If I stop and start a lot, the motor takes a lot of time turning over and on a couple of occasions has flattened my battery. Does this mean the motor is on its way out? The battery and alternator are ok and there are no air leaks as I have recently had work to sort out this problem. Is this an expensive problem to fix?

Reads to me that you have done in your battery by taking more out of it than you have put back in.
