Why is my Passat emitting so much smoke?
I have a Volkswagen Passat diesel (2007). However, the car has started discharging smoke whenever it is stood idle for a couple of minutes. It also happens when towing a caravan and I get an exhaust warning light coming on. Any idea what's wrong?

Probably turbo bearing oil seals from switching off the engine after towing when the turbo was red hot. This model Passat has the most faults we have ever recorded for any car in www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar
