Ford Focus DPF problems

I bought my Ford Focus in 2008 when it was approx six months old and had 6000 miles on it. I've done 77,000 miles on it now (six years later) and have had to replace the DPF three times: May 2012, Jul 2013 and Sep 2014.

Since the last replacement DPF I have been driving on motorways (approx 100 miles a week) and A/minor roads (also approx 100 miles a week), and I'm on an average of about 58mpg. Are these cars supposed to be so costly to maintain or am I doing something wrong?

Presumably a 1.6TDCI 110. Uses a coated rather then Eolys regenerated DPF and they fail so regularly that the replacement price has been reduced to £500.
