Mazda MX-5 rattle/vibration

I have just taken delivery of a new Mazda MX-5 25th Anniversary Edition. However, I’ve noticed the car makes a harsh rattle/vibration between about 15000rpm – 2000rpm. I took it back to the dealer and they checked it out, tightened up all bolts, screws, panels etc, but no change. The mechanic has told me it is transmission noise and all MX-5s suffer from the same thing, is this true?

You are sitting right next to the transmission in an MX-5, so you will hear more than when you are sitting above it or when it is totally isolated from you in the engine compartment.

Best thing to do is write your concern to the dealer principal of the dealer who sold you the car and post it to him by post office special delivery so that it becomes a matter of record of any subsequent problem develops.
