Does my Fiesta need a new dashboard?
I was driving my Ford Fiesta (2003) in normal conditions when all of the dials went to zero. I pulled over and tried to turn the engine off then back on again and absolutely nothing happened, no turn over, no sounds of any ignition attempt by the car.
The radio, windows, lights and indicators still work, but the car will not start at all, nor make any attempt to do so. The car is now with ford who say the dash needs to be replaced. By dash I assume instrument cluster?
Have you heard of anything like this before and more importantly how to resolve the issue? They have quoted £700 as they say it has to be a brand new dash since they cannot be reprogrammed which to me sounds a bit odd.

Yes the dashboard fault is common on these models.
You could try www.ecutesting.com/, who will either rebuild your dash ( approx £100) or will supply a new one for £200.
You may need a local garage to arrange removal/refit( who will charge for labour) but much cheaper than a delaeship.
