Which heavier manual car could I replace my 2002 BMW 320d Touring with?
I have owned a 2002 BMW 320d Touring for the last seven years and, among other things, it has excellently towed my Swift Challenger caravan which has an all up weight of 1150kg. Unfortunately the time has come to replace the caravan, but it is almost impossible to find a new 4-berth caravan with an all-up weight (MTPLM) of less than about 1500kg, which is the kerb weight of my car.
I really like the ergonomics and drive of the BMW, but I need a heavier but smallish car. I don't want a 4x4 and I don't want a car that's significantly bigger - just heavier. I am considering a BMW 330d as these are obviously heavier, but they are as rare as hen's teeth secondhand. The 325d is common but doesn't seem to have any advantage over the 330d as it shares the same, but detuned, engine. I also would like a manual as these give significantly better fuel consumption. Do you have any advice as to where I could find a 330d tourer or what would be an alternative equally satisfying car?

A manual will be about £2000 cheaper than an auto if you can find one. Try www.cargiant.co.uk
