Broken gearbox - should the seller pay for repairs?
My daughter purchased a used Peugeot 3008 (2010) with 60,000 miles on the clock and full service history from a car supermarket. Yesterday it broken down with what appeared to be a clutch failure. Our local garage stripped it down and found that it was a 2013 clutch in near perfect condition but were amazed that only a dribble of oil was in the gearbox. The gearbox was in such a bad a condition that even reconditioning would not have been an option.
The car supermarket have said they did not change the clutch and the dealer who stamped the service book denies any knowledge of servicing the car. What are our options? Do we have to pay for the repairs or should the seller fix it?

It doesn't matter what the car supermarket says, they sold you a car that had no oil in the transmission so they are liable. Law here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights/
