Why doesn't anyone operate a searchable database of car specifications?
I have, for a while now, been searching and googling for a database, just like the new car prices list at the back of car magazines, that I can download to my computer and search various parameters e.g. via an Excel spreadsheet. Fields for length, width, warranty, mpg, 0-60, CO2, insurance group, list price and target price would be useful. However this information doesn't seem to available anywhere in both its entirety and in electronic form. Have I just not found it yet or is there some commercial sensitivity reason for such a download not being available?

It's not worth anyone's while commercially to maintain such a database and offer it for use FOC. We used one for car-by-car breakdown prices and performance data, but we have to pay for it.
