Can you recommend a sporty estate?

My wife wants a new (sporty) estate with expected 10,000 annual mileage. The budget won't stretch to a BMW 5 Series, so am thinking of something more in the Volkswagen/Skoda/Mazda range. Any suggestions?

Mazda 3 or Mazda 6. Skyactiv diesel or petrol. Excellent 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission available with all. Diesel technology designed to prevent DPF problems.
