Fumes coming into car - what shouldl I do?

After recently having work done on my 2005 Ford Focus, I can now smell fumes coming through the air vents. This only happened after car was serviced, and also had a new alternator and battery installed. Has anybody had a similar problem with the fumes or know what the problem could be?

Could be that during the works the rubber seal strip that keeps fumes in the engine compartment from the vent well has gone missing.
