What car should I buy for my 83 year old father?

I would like to ask what is the most suitable Vauxhall Corsa model for my 83 year old Father who is still a reasonable driver for his years. Diesels can be ruled out as most of his trips are of quite short duration, but he does of course value good mpg.

He does approximately 5000 miles per year and has a budget up to £9000. He rarely carries anyone in the back seats so 3-doors are ok. He rarely travels on motorways. What do you recommend?

Why a Corsa? Been around since 2006 now, about to be replaced and far from best in class. Fiesta better. Yaris better. Jazz better. Even a Polo (at least a Polo 1.2TSI 105) better. I'd look at a Yaris 1.33.
