I'm setting up my own business following redundancy - should I buy my Ford S-Max company car?

I am about to be made redundant and will then be setting up my own business. I have the option of buying my current company car for £8000 (an 07-plate Ford S-Max Titanium which has done 140,000 miles, mainly motorway miles, and which has a full service history). I will be operating on a tight budget for the next 12 months or so as the business establishes. Am I better off looking for a lower mileage older car for the same money, or should I stick with the car I know (and like very much)? We need to have a seven seater vehicle. I am thinking about a Peugeot 807, Mitsubishi Grandis, or the old shape Galaxy as alternatives.

If the car has a full service history and you've looked after it then it should be a decent buy, as Ford's reliability record with the S-MAX is good. The Peugeot 807 is poor in comparison both in terms of reliability, practicality and driving. The Grandis isn't bad, but running costs can be high. We'd stick with the S-MAX.
