Flat Battery

Our 62 plate Golf 1.6TDI BlueMotion has had a totally flat battery twice in short succession, the upshot being it had to be towed by the AA to the Volkswagen garage who sold it (new). We had left nothing on in the car and Volkswagen cannot find what is causing it. They have tested the battery and have done drip tests.

We have taken the car back, as we needed it, but are very aware that it is likely to let us down again.

Can you advise what you would do as we don't like the idea of breaking down and the AA towing us in again? Note that the AA was unable to get any charge into the battery at the roadside.

Two hidden causes of battery draindowns are the interior light 'delay' switch remaining live after it has switched itself off (cure: switch it off completely). Or the hazard warning switch remaining live (cure: switch in on and off before you switch off the ignition).
