Buying a car for £5k - which is best?
I've been searching the forums and previous questions regarding cars. I want to spend about £5000 and I do about 30 miles a day (half motorway, half A-roads). I'm not looking for style or a show stopper, but I do want something that will last for a long time, be cheap to run and comfy to drive.
Have you any ideas or advice of what I should get for my budget (including age of car and engine size/fuel type)?

KIA cee'd or Hyundai i30 1.6CRDI. Your budget means it will be pre-2010 so it will not have a diesel particulate filter to worry about, and if properly serviced a cee'd will still have balance of manufacturer 7 year 100k mile warranty.
