How common is the Mazda 3 ABS / ESP module fault?
Any idea how frequent the ABS/ESP module fault is which affects the Volkswagen Golf V, Mazda 3, Skoda Octavia and BMW 1 Series? Is it a problem that all cars fitted with this unit will definitely suffer at some point, or is it an issue that affects only a small percentage? I am particularly interested in knowing the frequency of faults on Mazda 3s.

Volkswagen Auto Group says it's only a small percentage, yet about 100 owners of VAG cars with this problem have written to me about it. Doesn't seem to be a problem from 2008 models onwards.
