Buying a Volkswagen Tiguan - will if suffer from DPF issues?

My wife is looking to purchase a 2012 Volkswagen Tiguan and will be doing approx. 14,000 miles a year. She will be doing some motorway driving, approx. 15 mins each way a day. Which would be the best diesel for the car in terms of fuel efficiency and also for the engine? Would she have to drive further on the motorway to ensure no issue with the DPF?

This drive should enable the DPF to regenerate and have a normal life. Better the 140PS diesel than the 177PS.
