Wife is expecting twins - what car should we buy?

My wife is expecting twins and we're looking for a used car which will have space for a double buggy. Our budget is up to around £10,000 and reliability and low running costs are important to us. What should we buy?

You listed: Peugeot 3008 (2009), Ford C-MAX (2010), Seat Ibiza Estate, Peugeot 308 SW (2008), Dacia Logan MCV (2013), all of which have some merit.

The Dacia Logan MCV is affordable new, and you can extend the 3 year warranty within budget.

The 308 SW is spacious, with the advantage of three proper seats across the centre allowing the ISOFIX fitting of three child seats.

The Ibiza estate packs a lot of loadspace into a comparatively narrow car, so fits in more garages than the others.

The C-Max (and the Mazda 5) offer the best combination of ride and handling in an MPV and less bending to strap the kids in.

The 3008 is a useful oddball of a car, giving SUV height and MPV practicality, plus decent rid and handling. Best engine: the 1.6 THP 150/156
