Buying a five seater car - which model is best?

I'm looking for a five seater car with enough room for two children. The two children are very young (the eldest is just one year's old) and I will be buying used with a budget of £5000-£6000. Do you have any suggestions?

Better an MPV: something like a Ford C-Max which will be better for your back lifting the children in and out, and better petrol if a lot of your runs will be relatively short.
