Buying a used seven-seater automatic - what would you recommend?

My in-laws would like to replace their ancient Volvo estate with a nearly new seven-seater to ferry the grandchildren about. They really want an auto, preferably a diesel and preferably sliding doors.

I see you recommend the Mazda 5 but it doesn't look like the 1.6d comes as an auto? They've looked at the Galaxy (no sliding doors) and Seat Alhambra. Anything else they should be considering?

They can get a Ford Grande C-Max diesel auto with standard sliding side doors.
