The HPF module in my Mercedes-Benz has gone missing - any ideas?

I own a 2006 Mercedes-Benz C320 CDI, an exceptional vehicle in my opinion. It is fitted with a Harman Kardon Logic-7 radio and also an HFP Module to connect via Bluetooth to my HTC phone. This worked perfectly well until about three weeks ago when I attempted to call someone whilst on the motorway and the message on the screen read “Insert radio". Stopping at the next service station, I tried again and the message was repeated. I then lifted the armrest where the module is located and found it wasn’t there. The car has not been out of my sight and is fitted with a Mercedes alarm. It is always locked when I come to start it. Casting aside the prospect of black magic, what has happened to the module? Any ideas?

If it was there before and it is not there now then obviously someone has taken it. It shows some specific knowledge that they knew exactly where to look. Are you sure you have not put the car in for a service or repair recently? Or that you did not forget to lock it? This is quite easily done and the best advice is to check the doorhandles after remotely locking the car, just to make sure.
