Can you recommend a petrol-engined four-seat coupe?
We are about to change cars and would like a good-looking coupe four-seater with comfort and a bit of luxury, petrol engine and manual gearbox. I am 80 and my wife is 70 and nowadays the majority of our journeys are short ones, with an annual mileage of 5000. We had thought of the new BMW 1 Series or 4 Series but I guess the Efficient Dynamics rule that out. Our budget is approximately £30,000.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I wonder about a Nissan Juke 1.6DIG-T. This has a four-door coupe-like body jacked up so the seats are higher, which makes it easier to get in and out of than a low slung sports coupe. Otherwise, the new BMW 420i coupe.

Loads of choice when buying used thanks to its popularity, bold styling, decent value for money.
A very entertaining car to drive, efficient yet powerful engines, superb infotainment.
Handles as impressively as you’d hope, handsome styling makes the newer 4 Series look fussy, wide range of strong petrol and diesel engines, plenty on the used market.
