Can a dealer who sold me a faulty car give me a partial refund to cover the repairs?
I have finally been able to talk to the owner of the garage that sold me a misdescribed car, and he said that I should have spotted the error when I took it on a test drive so it wasn't his fault. He has said that he will be happy to return the X5 I part-exchanged and give a full refund if I'm not happy, but will not consider any sort of refund if I keep the car (I asked for £800). He told me I had 48 hours to make my mind up and then that was it. What can I do now?

He was in the wrong under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, but all he has to do is take the car back and give you your money back. He does not have to let you keep the car and compensate you for a lack of the advertised features.
