Is it normal for my Volkswagen Passat to have needed two clutch pack replacements by 50,000 miles?
Regarding the email from KB of Sevenoaks, I have a 2010 Volkswagen Passat 1.8 Passat CC DSG with 55,000 miles, and I have already had two clutch pack replacements to the DSG gearbox, following juddering on take-off in first and second gears. The first time was covered under warranty at 40,000 miles, but it had to be done again at 50,000 miles, this time under the extended warranty I purchased. It also uses a litre of oil to every 1400 miles, Volkswagen keeps telling me that this is 'within tolerance'. It is also about to go in as the drivers door has dropped, which is not covered by the extended warranty.

This is all typical of 2005-2011 Passats, though the CC from 2008 was generally better. Later Passats from 2011 are vastly improved.
