Should we replace our Mercedes-Benz E-Class with a Land Rover Evoque or a BMW 3 Series GT?
I presently own a Mercedes-Benz E 220CDI Estate, but having moved to Suffolk my wife finds the car too low and wide for the local lanes, coupled with, due to our advancing years, we are keen on a high driving position with "armchair-like" seating. I was considering an Evoque or equivalent but noticed your recent comments on the BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo with winter tyres. What do you think?

Road test and video here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/bmw/bmw-318d-gran-.../ But I'd go for the 320d rather than the 318d, because it needs the extra torque, with the 8-speed auto if you prefer auto. Check with the wife first, though, because it's not much smaller than an E-Class.
