Recommend a hatchback for short domestic journeys?
I have a budget of £10,000 to £12,000 and am looking for a hatchback with room for two sets of golf clubs plus trolleys. I am single and travel to work three days a week, comprising a round trip of 50 miles per day. My other domestic journeys tend to be relatively short, five to fifteen miles a day. Therefore, my annual mileage is around 10,000 miles.

A Golf. The Mk VI (previous to current model) has indentations behind the rear wheel arches for taking golf bags laid horizontally. A 1.4TSI 122 offers a nice, smooth drive and is more satisfying than a diesel.
