I think the BMW X3 is much better, and cheaper, than the Range Rover Evoque - do you?

The Range Rover Evoque is a sales success and good for the company and people who build it. However, your colleagues in Telegraph motoring who reckon a cramped, not very economical 4-cylinder diesel-engined SUV is a good buy at £46,000 have obviously got too used to not buying their own cars. I am biased of course, but the BMW X3 3.0d M-Sport at £40k is a tremendous vehicle, which seems to have had virtually no motoring press coverage at all.

The X3 2.0d makes even better sense at £31,000. We drove one from Innsbruck to Farnborough in the snow a couple of years ago (youtube.com/watch?v=U4A46BgcLGs&feature=c4-overview-vl&list=PL0432B41308AB540C). And a KIA Sorento at £30,000 makes yet more sense. You'd have to be nuts to spend £46,000 on an Evoque, but the fashion market is nuts.
