Which wheel and tyre size combination will work best on the latest Subaru Forester?
Much mention is made in your column about tyre and wheel sizes relative to ride comfort. I'm going to change my Subaru Forester for the latest model and find that they've altered the wheel and tyre sizes. I'm happy with my present 215/65 R16 tyres on 16-inch x 6.5 JJ wheels. My two preferred choices of the new vehicle have the options of: 225/55 R18 tyres on 18-inch x 7J wheels, or 225/60 R17 tyres on 17-inch x 7J wheels. Could you advise me which would give a similar ride to my present combination please?

Of these, the 225/60 R17s will give slightly better ride quality because there is more sidewall between the rims and the road.
