What is causing an engine fault alert on our Renault Scenic?

My Renault Scenic has started to intermittently display the warning message on the dash "Check Injection" with the service light. I've checked out the definition in my handbook and it says "serious engine fault". Renault web forums gave me hope of a simple solution, with the problem being the glow plugs, but alas, after having the car plugged in at a local garage, it could be more complicated. The print-out from the diagnostics showed 31 separate faults with the last report being the most alarming, advising that the computer needs replacing - a job the garage wouldn't undertake. The garage checked the other reported faults and found nothing amiss, assuring me that the car is mechanically fine. The car had a new alternator and battery fitted at the beginning of March and was serviced at Easter. We've not experienced any loss of power and the car drives fine, as it has done since we purchased it in December 2005. Can you help?

It's possibly moisture in the connector block to the ECU. Drying it out and re sealing it might solve the problem, but do not do this yourself because disconnecting it might lose all sorts of codes.
