Can I change the wheel size on my Ford Focus for a softer ride?

I have just purchased a 2012 Ford Focus Titanium X fitted with 18-inch wheels. I love the car but find the ride hard. Would fitting 17-inch wheels make the ride better? The car has only done 3000 miles. Is there any way to exchange 18-inch for 17-inch?

You can go down to 17s, 16s or 15s. On 15s the tyres will be 195/65 R15, the most comfortable. On 16s the tyres will be 205/55 R16, a good compromise. On 17s the tyres will be 225/45 R17. I guess you are probably on 40 section tyres. Ridiculous. www.tyremen.co.uk do sets of five-bolt TUV-approved alloy wheels for £335 inclusive. You will probably have to sell your 18s on eBay.
