Should I sell my 2007 Octavia Scout before the DPF fails?
I bought a secondhand 2007 Octavia Scout TDI 1,968cc with 76,000 miles on the clock in May last year. It is my second diesel Octavia but the first with a DPF, something I had not heard of before I bought the car, and something I have worried about ever since. The DPF light has come on twice since we bought it, but has cleared both times following the prescribed high rev/low gear drive. We try and use it whenever possible for longer, faster trips, and use a smaller car for lower mileage urban trips. With a current mileage of 86,000, should I trade it in before the DPF needs replacement? If you believe I should sell, what similar secondhand car could I go for?

This is a dilemma for Octavia 4WD owners because many seem to be wearing out and there is no obvious replacement. You might have to go up to an Audi A4 quattro estate. You won't have enough for a Yeti. You might be able to finance a 2007-2008 Honda CR-V 2.2iCTDI, which does not have a DPF (the newer 2.2iDTEC does).
