Rear wiper failure on brand new Skoda Roomster - how should I proceed?
Within 10 days of taking delivery of my wife's new Skoda Roomster in December the rear wiper failed. Skoda couldn't arrange repair in the week before Christmas, so it was booked in for 27 December when they said it needed a new motor but the part was not in stock. They said it should only take a couple of days and they would let me know when it arrived. I did not hear so phoned to be told the part was not in because of problems at the factory but there was a 73 per cent chance they would have it within 10 days.
Yesterday, two futile phone calls later, I was told there was still no part and seemingly no idea as to when it would be available. I was not particularly reassured to be told there were 15 other customers also waiting. My wife, because of atrocious weather, has had to borrow my car for a couple of journeys and feels disappointed that she has been unable to enjoy her first (and last) new car. Have you heard about problems at Skoda and do you think we should expect any goodwill?

If you wished to do so you could reject the car for a full cash refund because it was faulty from the day you took delivery and the supplier was unable to effect a repair (Clegg v Olle Andersson 2003). You might find it acceptable to be loaned an equivalent car such as another Roomster or a Yeti until your car is repaired.
