Can I recommend the Drive Check Plus and motorcycle Bike Safe training courses?

A couple of months ago I wrote to you to say that as I was having to self-assess my driving for the third three year period and I would like to have my abilities independently checked. You suggested that I contact IAM, which I did and have taken the Drive Check Plus assessment drive. This was everything that it said on the tin. The drive was for just over one hour and covered all types of road from lanes to motorway as well as heavy traffic in suburban areas. There was no pressure from the examiner who just chatted normally, assessing that I was capable of negotiating all conditions whist also carrying on a normal conversation.

I felt very reassured on completion of the drive that was helped by the "comments" note, that I was well up to the required standard. I would recommend it to all 70+ drivers who need reassurance. As I also ride a motorcycle I am enrolling in the "Bike Safe" course run by the Metropolitan Police. I have, in the past taken two of these assessed rides, both in North Wales with the North Wales Constabulary, and found them very helpful. Again I would recommend these rides to all motorcyclists, young or old. They cover all sizes of machine from small scooters to large sports bikes. You only realise how many bad habits you have when you take one of these rides. Thank you for your advice.

Many thanks. A useful accolade that I may be able to use in order to persuade others to do the same thing.
