Leasing versus private purchase
Inspired by recent press advertisements e.g."The New Volvo XC60 D4 with AWD", do you have any views on the merits of leasing as opposed to buying outright as a private car user? I have always bought (new or newish) in the past, usually every four or so years. I would have no problems adhering to the mileage restrictions. I am usually a VW driver and assume they run similar schemes. Thank you.

Nothing is for nothing. Unless the leasing company obtains the car for a massively greater discount than you could achieve, then leasing has to cost you more than buying. But if the lease company does get a much greater discount then it could be cost effective. Only you (and your accountant) can do the complex sums. Testing the new D4 engine in 2 weeks time.
