Is there a winter tyres shortage?

I have a 2010 BMW 520D Efficient Dynamics with 18-inch rims 245 front and 275 back. However, sourcing winter tyres is a problem - even with the BMW dealer - can I go to a different rim size/tyre package for winter?

Your problem is you left it too late. But try www.mytyres.co.uk (which is actually a German company not affected by the UK supply situation).
