Replacing a Subaru Outback - what should I buy?

I'm thinking of replacing my trusty 2005 Subaru Outback with an automatic 4x4 estate/SUV. I cover 10,000 miles a year and would prefer a petrol model if possible. I’m torn between the Volvo XC70, Subaru Forester or a second hand Outback. What do you recommend?

Drivethedeal has a number of deals on Volvos for cars that Volvo can't sell. So they are bargains compared to list prices, but actually more reflect the true worth of the cars.

We've tested the new Subaru Forester and found it to be very expensive to run. We don't have any experience of the Outback, but I did drive a Legacy 3.0 Spec B auto and rated that.
